Dr. Preston Peacock

Patient Testimonial 1-

I am living proof of how awesome Dr. Peacock is as a Chiropractor. He is gentle, forthright with all patient diagnoses, aggressive with treatment and shows empathetic individualized attention to his patients. I should know, as I am not only a “new” patient of his, but a member of his staff. Three weeks ago, on July 3rd, a slight wrench in my back mid morning left me mangled, twisted and in excruciating pain for over two weeks. I was unable to work because of my stubbornness.

Here is how I “threw my back out”: While standing at my sink, I looked over at my fiancé to respond to something he said. Just like that my back wrenched and immediately I was wracked with debilitating pain, where even breathing hurt and the slightest movement made me scream. I was ticked, because it had been six years since I had experienced pain of this magnitude and I figured just like before I would let the pain run its course and manage it as stubbornly as I possibly could.

I have no excuse, yet I did not want to draw attention to the fact I was experiencing major back and spinal pain. Pridefully, I downplayed the symptoms until I could no longer ignore them and was forced to make an appointment to see him. As one of his staff, I am supposed to be a walking example of wellness for other patients. Not this girl. I hate taking medicines and vitamin supplements, do little to stretch before or after I venture out on long run marathon training, and generally eat horribly…EVEN THOUGH I KNEW BETTER! The old adage of “do as I say, not as I do” really applies to me in this situation.

Outside of work, my friends are a bunch of Endurance Marathon Athletes and Tri-athletes and our mantra has always been: “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” I have since eaten my words. After Dr Peacock fussed at me for not seeing him sooner (especially since I am his employee), I had him do an adjustment on me and screamed in absolute agony when certain areas of my back were touched. I felt better the day of the initial adjustment, but then “threw it out” again when I woke up the next morning and stretched. I was now in even worse pain than before.

After examining me two days later, Dr Peacock grew really concerned and insisted I take X-rays to see if I had injured the disks in my back. Stubbornly I told him it was just my muscles locked up and I would be fine after a couple of adjustments. Ha, did I think I was more qualified than he was to make that sort of diagnosis. I was so wrong! Even thought I had seen a Chiropractor a few years ago for an auto accident and low back pain, (from who knows what) I had never gotten X-rays. I finally caved in and had them taken.

I am no means an Orthopedist or Chiropractic Doctor, but when our Chiropractic Assistant put my X-rays on the screen, I yelped in surprise. You could clearly see bone damage to the bottom half of my spine where the last four or five disks had collapsed onto each other. Even more noticeable was the crazy S curve showing scoliosis in my back. Dr Peacock looked over the X-rays and told me I had Spinal Stenosis complicated from Degenerative Disk Disease (which is a sign of aging) and even more troubling was what looked like a bone spur growing out of the side of my sacrum which had not fully developed when I was born.

I was freaked out. As a 36 year old female, I should not be dealing with aging issues so soon. I look 25, but the years of not taking care of my body, partying with my friends and smoking were now starting to show up as road signs on the inside of my body. Thankfully I quit smoking months ago, and am really ticked I had not stopped years prior to that. What I saw on the screen scared me to death and spurred me to action. Right now I am taking a break from training for a marathon to focus on recovery, but also recognize the chronic body pains I keep experiencing in my knees, joints, the arches of my feet and my right hip are directly correlated to the functionality of my spine. Since the body’s systems are synergistically connected, I found out that the spine serves as the foundation for maintaining your frame and overall wellness needs to be a lifestyle, not just a temporary band-aid to manage pain. As my eureka moment, I have not looked back since!

So, under the care of my boss, Dr Peacock, I have been getting regular adjustments and aggressively changed my dietary habits to focus more on preventative care and long-term wellness. I have to tell you, as the world’s biggest skeptic when it comes to vitamins and supplements and an even worse caretaker when it comes to fueling my body with food, these past two weeks have been profound for me. My pain has gone from excruciating to just a twinge. I am diligently taking my supplements and am paying close attention to the signals my body is telling me. To me it is no longer just about managing pain, but taking proper care of the only body I will ever have. Besides...I want my children to someday look up to me in the same way I look up to my mother, who at 61, can still hike the Swiss Alps.

Sincerely,

Laura

Advanced Chiropractic Center and Dr. Peacock have saved me on many occasions! My first visit to him was after I had slept oddly on my neck and needed therapy ASAP! He saw me that morning and has been providing me with great chiropractic care ever since. The office is gorgeous, the staff is very friendly, and Advanced Chiropractic Center always makes me feel so comfortable. I'll never go see a different chiropractor in the Savannah area again...Dr. Peacock is the only way to go!"

I am a 63 year old woman who has never been to a chiropractor. I developed severe back and rib pain approximately 5 months ago. I could hardly move. I went to the hospital and had several visits to the doctors office. They prescribed medication. I still didn't get any relief. My son recommended Dr. Peacock. I was very apprehensive, but I really had no choice. The pain wasn't getting any better. I thank God for Dr. Peacock and his staff. I continue to get better each day!
